Fundraising appeal - 40th anniversary of safe, legal abortion

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the provision of legal abortion in the UK. Even after 40 years of safe, legal abortion the stigma and taboo around abortion remain. This allows misinformation to dominate the discourse around abortion and can generate fear, anxiety and shame amongst the large number of women who choose abortion each day in the UK.

A sustained campaign of challenges to safe, legal abortion in the media and in Parliament threaten the provision of services that have preserved the lives and health of thousands of women since 1967.

Education For Choice works with young people, professionals and the media to dispel myths and misinformation, to facilitate open and constructive discussion of abortion and to ensure that no young person is denied their entitlement to information, advice and support on issues relating to pregnancy prevention, pregnancy and abortion.

Your donation could help support:our direct work with young people in schools and pupil referral units; new drama/film projects with young people; advocacy to ensure that young people's voices are heard and their needs are met; projects that ensure that young people and the professionals who work with them can access good quality information about pregnancy decision-making and abortion.
