Home Pregnant? For young people For professionals For parents About us

Pregnant: What Now? Choosing what's best for you is a workbook for pregnant young women and their partners to use with a professional to facilitate the process of pregnancy decision-making. It contains structured exercises to look at the way in which each pregnancy option would fit into their lives. It provides facts enabling them to consider the benefits and disadvantages of each option and encouraging them to access appropriate support and services.

The book is designed to provide a practical tool for professionals with little or no experience or knowledge of pregnancy options counselling or abortion so that they can provide non-judgemental and impartial support to their clients. It was written in response to evidence that those professionals working with looked after children and care leavers are often called upon to talk about the issue of unintended pregnancy with a client, but feel ill-equipped to do so. The exercises in it were designed in consultation with professionals attending training with Education For Choice on pregnancy decision-making support, young people in and leaving care and other vulnerable young people.

Since publishing the book we have received alot of positive feedback. Many people have told us how they plan to use the workbook in group work settings as an educational tool to encourage young people to think about how the dilemma of unintended pregnancy would feel, in advance of it happening.

If you purchase this workbook we'd love to know more about how you use it and what was most useful about it.
