Education For Choice has extensive experience of working with young people, facilitating discussion of unplanned pregnancy and abortion. Our training courses draw on this experience to offer an overview of all the issues around abortion - from young people and the law to different cultural perspectives. The courses are an opportunity for those working with young people to explore their own attitudes and values around the issue and to get the support they need to develop their professional practice in a range of settings.

Education For Choice now offers two different training days. We are also happy to discuss tailoring a day to the needs of the professionals in your area.

Abortion: decisions and dilemmas this training is designed for anyone working with young people in group work and one to one settings and looks at ways to facilitate discussion of pregnancy decision-making and abortion in both contexts. Professionals who have enjoyed this course over the past 7 years are school nurses, youth workers, sexual health workers, teachers, Connexions PAs, health educators, midwives and doctors. Pregnancy: choices and challenges this training is designed specifically for those working exclusively or primarily with young people in and leaving care including social workers, foster carers, social care and leaving care nurses. It focuses on the skills, information and practical tools that this group of professionals need in order to support their clients to make informed decisions about pregnancy and abortion.

New for 2010: Repeat Conceptions

A two day training course addressing young people, pregnancy choices and abortion, and repeat conceptions. The course is suitable for a wide range of professionals that work to support young people around teenage pregnancy. Some background sexual health knowledge  would be advantageous but is not essential.
