Mainstreaming best practice

Education For Choice has developed models of good practice for abortion education and pregnancy decision-making support which are disseminated through our resources, best-practice toolkits and training.

The next step for Education For Choice is to ensure that good quality education and support are part and parcel of mainstream services.

To do this we intend to spend 2010-2012:

  • Increasing the profile of Education For Choice and the work it does
  • Building support across a wide range of groups for Education For Choice models of good pratice
  • Assessing education practice in schools through a qualitative audit
  • Working with PCTs and abortion referrers and providers to ensure that young women are protected from poor quality pregnancy advice
  • Widening participation in EFC professional training
  • Holding a big training/seminar to encourage people to go back to their areas and address abortion as an issue for young people
  • Maintaining an understanding of - and inputting into - new government policies on health, public health and education to maximise opportunities to improve education and support for young people
  • Increasing our donor-base and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the organisation

All young people...

Education For Choice calls for all young people whoever they are and wherever they are to have access to good quality, evidence-based education on abortion and impartial support with pregnancy decision-making

Education For Choice calls for an end to the lies and misinformation given to young people in some schools and pregnancy advice centres.
